HO CHI MINH CITY
Keppel Land organised a volunteer trip to the Binh Chanh district in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam, from 9 to 12 November 2016 in support of the Words on Wheels (WOW) mobile library project.
During the trip, volunteers engaged children in the rural villages through reading and games.
WOW is sponsored by Keppel Land and managed in partnership with the Singapore International Foundation and HCMC’s General Sciences Library. To date, 11 volunteer trips have been organised since the programme was launched in May 2014.
Aimed at promoting a culture of reading and self-learning, the mobile library provides over 3,000 children aged between six and 15 in the Binh Chanh district with access to educational materials and multimedia tools.
