Keppel Land recognises that people are its greatest asset. As part of its continuous efforts to engage employees, the Company held its Annual Staff Conference which was attended by 460 employees from both Singapore and overseas.
Taking place from 30 May to 2 June 2017, the Annual Staff Conference (ASC) held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, is an important annual event in Keppel Land’s corporate calendar. The ASC serves as a key platform for management to share the Group’s strategic directions and provide updates on the various business units. It also facilitates the exchange of best practices and ideas as well as provides cross-learning opportunities among employees.
In his opening speech, Mr Loh Chin Hua, CEO of Keppel Corporation and Chairman of Keppel Land, shared the Keppel Group’s performance over the past year and urged Keppelites to maintain a growth mindset, innovate and adapt to the changing business landscape.
In his address, Mr Ang Wee Gee, CEO of Keppel Land, reiterated the Company’s growth strategies and commended Keppelites on the Company’s creditable performance over the past year. He also shared the various initiatives that the Company has embarked upon to foster an open, collaborative, innovative and entrepreneurial culture.
Keppel Land senior management also provided updates on the Company’s performance in the various market and fielded questions from Keppelites during the question and answer segment.
Dam Suyen Nhu, Assistant GM of Marketing, Keppel Land Vietnam, said, “Besides being updated on new initiatives within Keppel Land, I also got to learn from the experiences of my colleagues and even had the chance to meet some of the overseas counterparts whom I work with. The workshops and training programmes held during the conference were also very useful for my career development.”
One of the highlights of the ASC was the annual Work of a Winner (WOW!) award which has taken on a new form this year to encourage Keppelites to come up with ideas that seek to improve the status quo.
Participating projects showcased at ASC were conferred awards for exemplifying the following elements of innovation: productivity, originality, adaptability and scalability, entrepreneurial and value creation. A total of nine projects by teams from Singapore, China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Myanmar were recognised.
Lee Wee Hin, Senior Executive, Group Finance and Accounts (Asset Performance) at Keppel Land, said, “The ASC is a meaningful and engaging forum that encourages continuous learning through the exchange of new ideas and approaches. The workshops and WOW! segment were insightful and interactive. I had gained new knowledge and perspectives through learning from industry experts and fellow Keppelites.
“At every ASC, new friendships were formed, old ones grew stronger, and as a family, everyone had an enjoyable time together.”
The staff conference culminated with a fun-filled dinner and dance. Volunteers from Keppel Land also visited the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum with beneficiaries from the North West Community Development Council (see story on Nurturing eco-consciousness).
Similar country-level staff conferences were also held in Shanghai, China, and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam, respectively on 2 to 5 May 2017 and 10 to 12 May 2017.
The conference in Shanghai was attended by 178 staff from various Chinese cities while 440 Keppelites attended the conference in HCMC.
