In line with Keppel Land’s commitment to enrich communities wherever it operates, its team in Nantong, China, brought the spirit of giving onto the playing field with a charity football tournament.

Jointly organised by Keppel Land, the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area Football Club and Yilian Chamber of Commerce’s football team, the inaugural ’Keppel Cup‘ kicked off on 6 December 2014 and was held over a period of six weeks to raise funds for the underprivileged. A total of 180 players took part in the tournament, including employees from Keppel Land China’s Nantong office as well as Keppel Nantong Shipyard.

An awards ceremony was held at the clubhouse of Keppel Land’s Waterfront Residence on 17 January 2015 to commend players for their efforts and sportsmanship, during which it was announced that a total of RMB 28,600 was raised.

Funds raised from the tournament were donated to the Nantong Social Welfare Home on 9 February 2015 for the purchase of medical devices. Besides paying regular visits to children at the Home, Keppel Land’s Nantong team plans to continue supporting the Home to improve its facilities for medical examination.

Mr Eric Cheng, Head of the Waterfront Residence project, shared, “With strong support from Keppelites and the generosity of the public, the inaugural ’Keppel Cup‘ charity football tournament was a great success. We hope that the medical devices donated to Nantong Social Welfare Home will go a long way towards improving the health conditions of the children residing there.”
